My Grams

You know what doing family history does for me??

It makes me miss the people in my life who have gone on before. Take this woman, for instance. Edna May Gollaher Rolph, my mom's mom. Grams, for short.

No woman had the old fashioned pioneer spirit like she did. No one could cuss like she could. Her house and closets were treasures to be explored, and the thing is, she didn't mind me spending hours in her bedroom, going through and trying on every hat and every pair of gloves!

She taught me to cook, to sew, to arrange flowers, and most of all, she taught me how Grandma's ALWAYS have time for a grandchild!

One of my very favorite memories of her was just months before she died. She was staying with me for a few days, and came into the kitchen to visit while I cooked dinner. Our daughter was only about 7 or 8 months old at the time, and boy, did she love her great-granma! This particular day, Grams had Keri sitting on the bar in front of her, just talking to her. Keri reached out her chubby little arms, grabbing Gramma's cheeks. She pulled Grams' face close and began squealing and giving her big, slobbery, baby kisses all over her face! I honestly can still hear Grams laughing, harder than I had ever heard her laugh!

Love you and miss you, Grams!
